Supported Living

Supported Living in the UK refers to a range of services designed to help individuals with various disabilities maintain their independence by residing in their own homes. These services, which can include personal care, help with household chores, and assistance with managing finances, can be tailored to suit the specific needs and preferences of the individual. The primary goal of supported living is to empower individuals with disabilities to lead fulfilling, self-directed lives within their communities.

People with Learning Disabilities and Autism

Supported living is particularly crucial for individuals with learning disabilities and autism, as they may require additional support to live independently. These individuals face a variety of challenges that can make it difficult for them to thrive in traditional residential care settings. Supported living provides an alternative option that allows individuals with these disabilities to maintain their independence while still receiving the necessary assistance and support.

Our Commitment to safe practices

At our organisation, we are deeply committed to providing the highest standard of care, and this involves adhering strictly to safe practices. Our approach is anchored on three pillars: Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Restraint Reduction, and STOMP.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

PBS is a person-centered approach aimed at improving a person's quality of life. It emphasizes understanding the individual, their needs, and the reasons behind their behaviors. By identifying triggers and implementing proactive strategies, we can reduce challenging behaviors while ensuring the individual's needs are being met.

Restraint Reduction

Our commitment extends to minimizing the use of physical, mechanical, and chemical restraints. We strive to create a care environment that respects the dignity and autonomy of our patients. As part of our commitment, we ensure our staff are trained in de-escalation techniques, communication strategies, and therapeutic interventions to reduce the need for restraints.

STOMP (Stopping Over-Medication of People with a Learning Disability, Autism or Both)

We firmly stand by the STOMP initiative. We acknowledge the risks and adverse effects associated with overmedication. To this end, we work closely with healthcare professionals to review the medication of our patients regularly, ensuring they get the right medication for the right reasons.
